The Ultimate Mission

Devotional

Does God have a mission for his people? Who we are, why we exist and what it means to be human is attached to his mission. This week, we explored the story of the Bible and focused on the role God plays in his mission and how he has called us into his mission as well.

27 So God created mankind in his own image, in the image of God he created them; male and female he created them. 28 God blessed them and said to them, “Be fruitful and increase in number; fill the earth and subdue it. Rule over the fish in the sea and the birds in the sky and over every living creature that moves on the ground.”

GENESIS 1:27-28

1 The Lord had said to Abram, “Go from your country, your people and your father’s household to the land I will show you. 2 “I will make you into a great nation, and I will bless you; I will make your name great, and you will be a blessing. 3 I will bless those who bless you, and whoever curses you I will curse; and all peoples on earth will be blessed through you.”

GENESIS 12:1-3

16 Then the eleven disciples went to Galilee, to the mountain where Jesus had told them to go. 17 When they saw him, they worshiped him; but some doubted. 18 Then Jesus came to them and said, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. 19 Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, 20 and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.”

MATTHEW 28:16-20

Questions:

Practice The Way of Jesus:

Here are a couple of practical ways that you could respond to this study:

- Write down a list of blessings that God has given to you: material, economic, relational, spiritual, etc.
- Thank God for these blessings.
- Consider one way that you could bless someone else this week, whether here or around the world. Write it down, reflect on it, and put it into practice this week.
- Consider contacting one person in this group to pray with and discuss what you wrote down.
